Background & MMA Achievements

Kaitlin Young was born on the 15th of September 1985. An American of a distinguished MMA pedigree she has been at the center of the sport and the development of the women’s game in particular. She started her training at the tender age of just fourteen years and the rest is really history. She has expressed an interest in Taekwondo and the prevailing fashions for such play. She earned her black belt in due course and is now one of the greats of the sport. She attended the relevant national conference and has impressed the people that have seen her in action. She is indeed an inspiration to many young people that would like to join the sport. This background has enabled her to turn into one of the more formidable opponents of the mixed martial arts. This is not a fighter that is just limited to sport as she also has some academic prowess to her name.

She was at the top of her class when she graduated at the Centennial High school in 2004. She then made a decision to enroll into the University of Minnesota. Her area of specialism will be Kinesiology. Her commitment to her education in conjunction with her other MMA activities is an example to all young people that want to join the sport. She has not forgotten the power and value of a good education when it comes to modern society. Often we criticize the sports people for ignoring their other private lives but in this instance we have someone that is doing a few interesting projects in her life.

The win that she made on the Hook and Shoot event catapulted her to the Female MMA Elite and she is now famous beyond the country roots that first started her career. Her Grand Prix win was one of the highlights that we can point to in a career that is never short of dramatic incidents. She is the ultimate professional because she concentrates on the business of making sure that the business of winning matches is taken care of even as the glamour of the circuit continues to rage on. Her defeat to Gina Carano at the EliteXC might have been problematic but she was fighting a great champion indeed. In that fight it was clear that she was not very well because a physician had to declare that she was not able to continue.

A period of absence was understandable so that she could get the chance to regroup after the incident. She returned to the MMA on the 11th of December 2009 but was then given a setback when she lost to Shana Olsen with a second round knockout. She was also defeated by Jennifer Tate in the second round of their quarter final for the Freestyle Cage Fighting Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix. Her next fight will be with Jamie Seaton at the Crowbar in the Fall Brawl. The career has been great but there is lots of potential that is just waiting to be seen by the general public.
